From March 1979 to September 1980, Bob Bybee worked as chief engineer and bottle washer at WLTA-FM radio, 99.7 on the dial.  That station later became Warm 100, then Power 99, and now calls itself 99X.  It would be Bob's last job in the radio biz.  In 1980, he moved into the computer field and never looked back.

So here's a look back.

It's fairly disorganized in here, so watch out that you don't trip over the clutter.  But if you worked for (or remember, or are curious about) WLTA, come in and enjoy.

These pictures were donated by some or all of the following WLTA staffers, whose likenesses also appear below.  Even the announcers!

And the famed Aklanna Phlammes hockey team!

Tedi, Joel and Joyce smiled through the snow of 1983 when the staff was stuck at the radio station for three days.  More snow-jam pictures below.

To conserve a little bit of sanity and humor, we often found ourselves in the production studio making tapes of fake commercials, promos, and other things which didn't get on the air. Or shouldn't have gotten on. But sometimes they did anyway. Here are a few such audio clips.

Need to hire a new chief engineer?  Why not advertise on your own radio station?  Here's why.

Here's what happens when you read one too many disclaimers at the end of commercials.

And finally, for the first (and last) time ever, four-chord misery by Bob and Gary:  Mah Darlin.  Lyric sheet is included, to your right.

For reasons unknown, Connie saved mass quantities of WLTA memos.  Get Some Today by clicking the highly professional and courteous memo-looking link to your right!

The Book Of Fard is presented here in all its glory!

More from the Montiel collection:

The Fall Harvest Of Prozac...

Aklanna Phlammes (Atlanta Flames) memorabilia.

Ahh, radio... and TV... they make you sweat...

New scans of the caricatures, many of them autographed this time.

Snow Jam 1982!  The roads were unusable for several days.  Whoever was on duty when the snow started, remained at the station (or a nearby motel) until the weather lifted.

This set of pictures is from Gail Zartman, dated October '77.

And a few more from Bob's box-o-negatives.

Anybody recognize these?  I don't remember their names.
