DEDICATIONI wish to acknowledge and thank all the friends and relations who contributed to this book. Since I began collecting genealogical information on the Bybees more than ten years ago, I have come in contact with the most generous group of people I have ever known--genealogists! Everyone I have contacted has been helpful to the point of--well, I can't express it.! Others have supplied information for the UNTRIVIA sections, and in the process I have met first cousins, once removed and others who grew up not more than fifty miles from my hometown. The reason we had never met before is probably more due to the fact that during the depression of the 30s we had bigger things on our minds than genealogy, such as keeping body and soul together with food on the table and a roof over our heads. Special thanks goes to Gladys Cooper, "Cina" Brower, and Wilbur Leedom who are the closest of the Bybees that I have met. Others include the late Curtis Bybee and his widow Flora Belle Bybee; Beverly Parsley; Dorothy Lloyd; DeAnna Odineal; Lyman Bybee; Pat Carr; Etta Myers; Mrs. Russell Freeman; and Mary Tryon. There are others too numerous to mention, and I thank them all, from the bottom of my heart. If I have omitted any of the major contributors, it is not intentional, believe me. Please feel free to contact me, if you so desire.
