previous chapter top next chapter CHAPTER SIXTEENThe Last RoundupTo love you, Lord, with all my heart, my strength, my mind, To serve you, Lord, with all the zeal my aging heart and body find, To become a helpless little child and realize that every blessing I receive comes from you, And nothing I can ever do will make you love me any more--or any less. To know that in Your Father's heart Your love is there to bless and keep and guide my way, To show me as you light the days and nights ahead That the way that I am being led is by Your will and not by pride. To know the lives of those I pass will not be quite the same Because in passing I may have breathed Your Name in reverence, Or did some kind deed in Jesus' Name. And when my remaining days are done, I pray that I will leave this foreign land with head held high, And approach that Gate of Pearl and will hear my Saviour cry, "Well done, my son! Welcome home!"
