PEARL J. BYBEE

Moulton--Pearl J. Bybee, 77, died Tuesday night, Oct. 24, 1961, at a Spencer hospital, where he had been taken after suffering a stroke Saturday while visiting at the home of a son, Robert, in Humboldt.

Mr. and Mrs. Bybee had accompanied their son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Earl Sellers to Humboldt. They were enroute to Spencer to spend the winter with the Sellers family and had stopped at Humboldt for a visit. While there, Mr. Bybee suffered the stroke, and was rushed on to the Spencer hospital. He had been in poor health since suffering a light stroke two years ago.

Born in Davis County November 20, 1883, he was the son of Thomas and Sarah Smith Bybee. He was married to Cecil Hope Zellers in Ottumwa in 1905. They lived for a time in Ottumwa, then moved to Moulton. Mr. Bybee had been employed by the Wabash railroad and had operated a grocery store with his son, Clint.

Surviving are his wife, Cecil; one daughter, Hope Sellers; and three sons, Clint of Bossier City, LA, Robert of Humboldt, and Forrest of Washington, D.C.; five grandchildren; one brother, Bert of Brookshire, Texas, and two sisters, Daisy Catherall and Blanche Horn of Moulton. One grandson preceded him in death. The body is being returned to the Eagle Funeral Home here (Moulton). Funeral plans will be announced later.

CECIL ZELLERS BYBEE

Cecil Hope Zellers Bybee, 91, a resident the past eight years of Humboldt, IA, died Sunday, September 20, 1981, in Humboldt County Memorial Hospital.

Born in Appanoose County, Iowa, November 2, 1889, she was the daughter of Ivon and Rebecca Thomas Zellers. She was a member of the Moulton Christian Church. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Pearl, who died in October 1961; two sons, Clint and Bob Bybee; four brothers and one sister.

Survivors include one daughter, Hope Sellers of Humboldt; one son, Forrest Bybee of Winter Haven, FL; five grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and one sister, Lela Carr of Ottumwa.

Services will be held Thursday, September 24 at 2 p.m., at the Moulton Christian Church, with the Rev. Fritz Zimbleman officiating. Burial will be in Hardin Cemetery north of Moulton. Visitation will be this evening at Duley Funeral Home in Moulton from 7 until 8 p.m. The casket will be taken to the church at noon on Thursday.

REBECCA ANTHRITE THOMAS ZELLERS

Rebecca A. Thomas was born in Unionville, Iowa, October 24, 1856, and died in Udell, Iowa November 6, 1904 of congestion of the brain.

She was united in marriage with Ivon W. Zellers on December 7 in the year 1876. To this union seven children were given, John E. and Ziola who preceded the mother to the other shore; Guy B. who now resides in Ottumwa; Willis A., Cecil H., Lela F., and I. Keith, all of whom now reside with the bereaved husband and father, Ivon. W. Zellers, in Udell.

At the age of eleven years Sister Zellers gave her heart to Christ and was baptised into the fellowship of the Mt. Ararat Baptist Church, but some years ago she with her husband and family moved to Eldon, where she united with the Baptist church at this place and in which church was known to the writer to be a zealous and consecrated Christian worker, always willing to bear any burden which she believed to be for the glory of God and the advancement of His kingdom.

Sister Zellers was held in the highest esteem by all who knew her, and the bereaved husband and family have the sympathy of a large circle of friends.

The funeral was conducted from Mt. Ararat Baptist Church Monday, November 7th by Rev. A. W. Miller of Fairfield,Iowa, assisted by Rev. Legrand of Centerville, after which the remains were laid to rest in the Mt. Ararat Cemetery in the presence of a large congregation of sympathising friends.

CLINT EDWARD BYBEE (Moulton Tribune, July 26, 1962)

Clint Bybee, 52, former Moulton resident, but more recently living in Bossier City, LA, died at a hospital there Monday morning, just one week after he had been admitted for surgery.

Mr. Bybee was born in Moulton and before leaving here had been employed by the Elmer Wood Company, later operating a grocery store for himself. He was employed at Burlington, Iowa, for several years before moving to Sealy, Texas, where he was an auditor for a chain of hotels. He moved from Sealy to Bossier City where he was employed as an accountant.

He was married to Elizabeth Powell of Moulton, and to this union was born one son, Edward, age 17, both of whom survive.

Other surviving relatives are his mother, Mrs. Pearl Bybee of Moulton, two brothers, Robert of Humboldt and Forrest of Washington, D.C., and a sister, Mrs. Earl Sellers of Spencer. His father preceded him in death on October 21, 1961.

Funeral services and burial will be held in Bossier City today (Thursday).

JAMES ROBERT BYBEE

Services for James Robert (Bob) Bybee, 61, were held today, May 18, 1974 in Oak Hill Baptist Church (Humboldt, IA) with burial in Union Cemetery. Lindhart Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Bybee died in Humboldt County Memorial Hospital Wednesday afternoon, following a lengthy illness.

Surviving are the widow, Sara; three daughters: Mrs. Gary Sharp, Washburn, WI; Cheryl Bybee, a student at Iowa Central Community College, Fort Dodge; Carolyn, a student at Humboldt High School; two grandaughters; his mother, Mrs. Pearl Bybee, Humboldt; a brother, Charles F. Bybee, Arlington, Va.; and a sister, Mrs. Earl Sellers, Humboldt.

Mr. Bybee was born at Ottumwa and educated at Moulton. He married Sara Kimmell in 1935 at Macon, MO. He was employed in construction work for many years, coming to Humboldt in 1953. He was employed by the Corn Belt Power Co-op in Humboldt and had just received an award for 20 years of service by that company.

He directed the Baptist Church Choir here for 12 years and was a member of the Humboldt Community Chorus.

Dr. Henry Nelson officiated at the final rites and casket bearers were Chet Griffin, Harvey Obrecht, Kelly Albertson, Aljie Larson, Dale Pedersen and Ralph Schulze.

Special music was provided by solist Mrs. Richard Hollenbeck, accompanied by Mrs. Silas Fevold at the organ. Floral arrangements were in charge of Mrs. Janet Craig, Mrs. Harvey Nelson and Mrs. Darrell Black. Silas Fevold and Larry Danielson ushered.

SARA LOUISE KIMMELL BYBEE

Sara Louise Kimmell, the daughter of Benjamin and Mabel Holcomb Kimmell, was born and educated at Moulton, Iowa. She attended North East Missouri State College at Kirksville, Mo., and was married October 17, 1935 to Bob Bybee. They lived in various communities before making their home in Humboldt in 1953. Mrs. Bybee was a receptionist at the Humboldt County Memorial Hospital and after the death of her husband in 1974 continued her employment for over 10 years.

She is survived by her daughters, Mrs. Gary (Patricia) Sharp of Cedar Rapids; Mrs. David (Cheryl) Carlson of Worthington, Minn.; and Carolyn Bybee of Ann Arbor, Mich.; 4 grandchildren, her brother, John Kimmell of Bettendorf; and a sister, Mrs. Elsie Field of Bloomington, Ind.; also her brother-in-law, Charles F. Bybee of Winter Haven, Fla.; and sisters-in-law, Mrs. Earl (Hope) Sellers of Humboldt and Mrs. Clint (Elizabeth) Bybee of Bossier City La.

Mrs. Bybee was a member of P.E.O., had been active in the Sweet Adelines and the Castle Theatre, and was a member of the congregation of the Oak Hill Baptist Church. She passed away at the Humboldt County Memorial Hospital on the morning of August 3, at the age of 69 years.

HOPE BYBEE SELLERS

Hope Bybee Sellers, 86, passed away November 5, 1993 at Friendship Haven Health Center, Fort Dodge, Iowa. She was born in Ottumwa on March 29, 1907 and moved with her parents and family to Moulton in 1922. She was a graduate of Moulton High School and, in her early years, was employed by the Farmers Mutual Telephone Company and Bybee Bros. Grocery, both in Moulton.

Hope was a member of the Royal Neighbors and of the United Congregational-Church of Christ.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Earl D. Sellers, Jr.; her parents, Pearl and Cecil Bybee; and by two brothers, Clint and Bob Bybee. She is survived by one brother: Charles Forrest Bybee of Winter Haven, FL; three nieces: Patricia Sharp of Cedar Rapids, Cheryl Carlson of Worthington, MN, and Carolyn Bybee of Ann Arbor, MI; and by two nephews: Edward Bybee of Snyder, TX; and Robert Bybee of Stone Mountain, Ga.

Interment was at Union Cemetery in Humboldt.

DOC BYBEE

Word has been received in Moulton of the passing of Doc D. Bybee, 81, who died at 6:30 p.m. Friday, June 28, 1968 at the Park Ave. Nursing Home in Albert Lea, Minn., of a heart condition. He was a former Moulton resident.

Mr. Bybee was born Oct. 18, 1886 at Moulton, Iowa, the son of Mr. and Mrs. John Bybee. He was married to Elizabeth Evans, Nov. 26, 1908 and moved to Albert Lea in 1923.

Surviving are four daughters, Mrs. Marion McMab and Mrs. Lyle (Elizabeth) Hansen, both of Albert Lea; Mrs. Jasper (Dora Mae) Burr of New haven, Ind.; and Mrs. Arthur (Maryetta) Cook of Glendora, Calif; five sons, S. J. Bybee and Harry Bybee of Albert Lea; Richard of La Puente, Calif.; Joseph and Chas. of Manassas, Va.; also 35 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren.

Funeral services were held at the Bonnerup Funeral Chapel in Albert Lea at 3:30 p.m. Tuesday with the Rev. J. Carlton Forshee officiating. Burial was at Graceland Cemetery in Albert Lea.

ELIZABETH MAE EVANS BYBEE

Mrs. Doc B. (Elizabeth Mae) Bybee, 75, a resident of College Street and the last three years at Good Samaritan Home, passed away at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 23, 1965. She had been ill with strokes and complications.

A native of Bloomfield Iowa, she was born June 13, 1889 to the late Mr. and Mrs. Samuel Evans. She had lived in Davis County, Iowa, around Moulton and Bloomfield.

She was married to Doc B. Bybee November 1908 at Moulton, Iowa. He survives her. Three brothers and three sons Veryl, Robert and Cecil preceded her in death.

Immediate survivors are five sons: S. J. (Buster) and Harry (Doc) of Albert Lea, MN, and Joe, Charles, and Richard in California. Four daughters, Mrs. Marian O'Neal and Mrs. Lyle J. (Elizabeth) Hansen both of Albert Lea, Mrs. Arthur (Maryet) Cook, Glendora, CA, and Mrs. Jasper (Dora Mae) Bure of New Haven, IN, 31 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. Services will be at 3:30 p.m. Saturday In Bonner Up and Son Funeral Chapel. Interment will be in Graceland Cemetery. The Rev. J. Carlton Forshee will officiate.

BLANCHE BYBEE HORN

Moulton--Mrs. Blanche Horn, 84, a longtime Moulton area resident, died Wednesday night, December 8, 1971, in a hospital in St. Louis, MO.

For the past two years she had made her home with her son, Glen Horn, at Marshalltown, and in recent weeks was with her son, Max Dean Horn, in St. Louis.

Born on a farm northeast of Moulton, Dec. 6, 1887, she was the daughter of Thomas and Sarah Smith Bybee. She was a member of the Moulton Christian Church. On Dec. 28, 1911, she married Fred Horn. He died in March of 1953.

Surviving are three sons, Glen of Marshalltown, Dean of St. Louis, and Frederick of Moulton; one daughter, Mrs. George (Helen) Garrett of Inglewood, CA; eight grand-children; and 10 great-grandchildren. One sister and two brothers preceded her in death.

Services will be held at Duley Funeral Home Saturday, at 2 p.m., with the Rev. Francis Bussey officiating. Burial in Hardin Cemetery.

WILLIAM L. BYBEE

William L. (Lee) Bybee, long time resident of Moulton and vicinity, passed away at his home in Moulton, Saturday morning following a lingering illness. Mr. Bybee was one of the highly respected men of the community. Moulton and surrounding territory mourns with the family and relatives in the departure of this venerable citizen.

Mr. Bybee was born in Kentucky, August 8, 1849, where he resided until 1871 when he moved to Iowa and settled near Orleans, where he lived for over fifty years. He was married to Malinda Killion, February 21, 1888. In 1890 he united with the Christian Church at Orleans where he was a faithful attendant. Mr. and Mrs. Bybee moved to Moulton four years ago. He had been in failing health for several years and had been seriously ill for over a week.

He passed away at his home on East 3rd St., Saturday, May 9 (1931). Death resulted from dropsy and old age infirmities. At the time of his death he was 81 years and 9 months of age. He was the last of a family of seven.

He leaves to mourn his loss his wife, who is critically ill, three nieces, Anna Bybee, of Novinger, MO, Mrs. Daisy Catherall and Mrs. Blanche Horn, both of Moulton; six nephews, Frank and Pearl Bybee, of Moulton, Bert Bybee of Ames, Iowa, and Will, George and Jim Bybee, all of Novinger, MO; two sisters-in-law, Mrs. Tom Bybee and Mrs. John Bybee, two brothers-in-law, Presco and Clarence Killion, all of Moulton, and another brother-in-law, Jeff Killion, of Lenox, IA.

Funeral services were held from the Moulton Christian Church, Monday afternoon, at 2 o'clock, conducted by the pastor Rev. V. S. Stagner. Interment was made at Hardin Cemetery. The services were largely attended by old friends who came to pay their last tribute to this fine old gentleman.

MALINDA KILLION BYBEE

Mrs. William Bybee, who had been in failing health for a long period of time, passed away at her home on East 3rd Street last Friday. Mrs. Bybee was a well and favorably known resident of Appanoose County,. She was a good neighbor and a woman of high character, and her passing will be grieved by not only the family but by countless friends.

Malinda Killion Bybee was born October 28, 1851 at Drakesville, IA, and passed to her reward May 12, 1933, at the age of 81 years, 6 months and 14 days.

She was united in marriage to William Bybee February 21, 1888. The major portion of her married life was spent in Appanoose County. She died at her home in Moulton. Death was due to chronic nepharitis and heart trouble. Her husband preceded her in death on May 9, 1931.

Mrs. Bybee was a faithful church attendant until recent years, having united with the Orleans Christian Church when 22 years of age.

Those left to mourn her departure are two sisters, Laura Lee of Greely, CO, and Mrs. Nancy Rucker of Moulton; three brothers, Wm. Killion of Parnell, MO, T. J. of Lenox, IA, and Presco of Moulton, beside other relatives and a host of friends.

Funeral services were held Sunday from the Christian Church conducted by Rev. V. S. Stagner. Burial was made at Hardin Cemetery.
